The Crystal Lake Park District Memorial Tree Program is a perfect way to remember a loved one, honor someone special or commemorate an important occasion, and at the same time, benefit the community and future generations.
Woodscreek Park, located at the corner of Golf Course and Ackman Roads in Crystal Lake, is home to the Memorial Tree Walk. Your tree will be planted along the .5 mile walking path meandering through the park, next to a scenic pond.
The cost for the tree planting is $200, which includes an engraved brass leaf which will be placed on the Tree of Life displayed in the foyer of the Park District Administrative Office.
If desired, for an additional cost, you may order an engraved bronze plaque which will be set in stone at the base of the tree. The plaques vary in size, depending on your message, with the maximum size of 4' high and 8" long. The cost of the plaque will vary, depending on the length of the message.
Unfortunately, due to the popularity of the locations, memorials are no longer being accepted for Veteran Acres pond or playgrounds, or for Main Beach.
However, trees may be donated to any other of the 34 parks in the district. Cost for the tree donation is $225, which includes an engraved brass leaf which will be placed on the Tree of Life displayed in the foyer of the Park District Administrative Office.
Follow this link to the Tree Memorial Form (PDF), attach payment and mail to the Park District Administrative Office. If you are using a credit card, please place your order in person.
You will be contacted when your order is received to discuss the details including timing and location. A gift card commemorating your donation will be sent to the person of your choice and you will receive notice after the tree has been planted.
The location for your tree is subject to the approval of park district staff. The tree will be guaranteed for one year. If the tree dies within the first year after planting, it will be replaced at no charge. Replacements after one year are optional, and the donor is responsible for the cost.
