The Crystal Lake Park District Tree Donation Program is a perfect way to remember a loved one, honor someone special or commemorate an important occasion, and at the same time, benefit the community and future generations.
Woodscreek Park, located at the corner of Golf Course and Ackman Roads in Crystal Lake, is home to the Memorial Tree Walk. Your tree will be planted along the .5 mile walking path meandering through the park, next to a scenic pond.
Trees may be donated to other parks within the district. You can discuss possible locations with Ann Viger, Crystal Lake Park District Park Planner. She can be reached at (815) 459-0680, ext. 205 or via email at aviger@crystallakeparks.org.
Your tree will be planted in May or October. If the tree dies within the first year after planting, it will be replaced at no charge. Replacements after one year are optional, and the donor is responsible for the cost. The tree will be purchased from a local nursery and will be locally grown for hardiness. The cost of the tree includes planting and maintenance. To protect the tree from damage or disease, donors may not decorate the tree or leave personal mementos at the planting site.
Trees are publicly recognized with an engraved brass leaf that is placed on the Tree of Life in the Crystal Lake Park District Administrative Office. For an additional fee, a tree markers can be made with your customized message and placed on the tree.
