Park Place is a beautiful full service banquet facility located at 406 W. Woodstock Street in Crystal Lake.
Purchased and renovated by the Crystal Lake Park District in 1998, Park Place welcomes guests to its bright and charming atmosphere. Deep colors, hardwood floors, and elegant decor give Park Place a rich warmth that will enhance any event.
Park Place was once a stately home built by the Randall family in the late 1930’s. Upon the death of Mr. Randall, a prominent stock exchange broker, the property was sold to Ed Besse. Mr. Besse, the owner of Oak Industries, allowed an employee to reside in the home with his family until 1946, when the property was donated to the William Chandler Peterson American Legion Post 171.
Under the American Legion’s ownership, the home’s carriage port was enclosed and converted to a bar and the large banquet room was added. Young and old alike enjoyed the camaraderie of the Post for over half a century. In 1998, the American Legion approached the Crystal Lake Park District to purchase the building so it could remain available to the public. Looking for a place to house a Senior Center, the Park District readily agreed.
