The Crystal Lake Park District Dance, Cheerleading and Poms program is a part of the Illinois Park District Gymnastics Conference (IPDGC). IPDGC was founded in 1980, as a means to provide an alternative recreational gymnastics competition arena to local Parks and Recreation gymnastics and dance programs. Over 20 area Park Districts participating in our conference divisions.
A Drill Team Division of IPDGC was formed in 2003. It encompasses CHEER squads, DANCE squads, POM squads, and BATON twirlers (individual or group). This division is based upon AAU Cheerleading rules, Bill George Cheerleading rules, and NBTA rules. There are several divisions available, based upon squad size and ability. The Drill Team season runs from January through April, and concludes with a state meet.
The IPDGC places a strong emphasis on the enjoyment of a recreational activity, and not the outcome of competition. IPDGC believes in the core ideology of "Students First: Winning Second".
A full schedule of non-competitive Crystal Lake Park District Cheerleading, Dance and Poms programs are also available each season.
