Here’s Whats Hot For Fall 2009!
.... Special Events for Teens You Don’t Want To Miss!

Paintball
Announcing the end of Paintball as you know it! Challenge Park X-treme, located in Joliet, IL. has created the ultimate experience in Paintball excitement….semi-automatic mayhem…..from the games you play, to the fields you play on, like Armageddon, an apocalyptic town's ruins of dozens of burned out buildings creating the eeriest of landscapes. Or, the Jungle of Doom where the objective becomes finding a golden idol inside an ancient Aztec Temple. Come on out for the excitement teens, you won't be disappointed! Please wear loose fitting clothes. Long sleeve shirts and pants required - no shorts! Please bring a sack lunch and water bottle. All participants will be furnished with equipment and a limited amount of paintballs. Teens can bring extra money for extra paintballs or snacks/lunch.
Please register by the deadline to avoid cancellation.

Fright Fest at Six Flags
Grab your friends for the spine-tingling fun at the Annual Fright Fest at Great America! Thousands of props, decorations and special effects will be used during this spectacular event. Please bring extra money for meals, snacks and souvenirs. Please register by the deadline to avoid cancellation of the thrills and chills of a great day.

Alpine Valley Ski Trip
For Teens that like the thrill of snow activities this trip is for you! We will be traveling to Alpine Valley Ski Resort in WI for skiing or snowboarding. The cost includes transportation, and the lift tickets and equipment if needed. Registration is limited so don't miss this opportunity to meet other local teens, while enjoying an exciting and thrilling outside winter adventure. You will want to bring money for lunch/snacks since you will be working up an appetite!

Band Jams

We're doing it again... We'll sponsor concerts showcasing all your favorite local high school bands. Grab your friends and come on over to Grand Oaks Recreation Center. Contact Connie Cooke at 815-459-0680 ext. 213 to book your band to perform. Bands are booked in the order they call, so call quickly to secure your spot.

2010 Miss Crystal Lake Scholarship Pageant

The Miss Crystal Lake Pageant will be an exciting night of entertainment with performances, great music and dazzling contestants! Sponsored by the Crystal Lake Park District and the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, the pageant is held in conjunction with the Crystal Lake Chamber Expo on Saturday, March 27, at 5:30 PM, at South High School. In order to be eligible all contestants need to be available Thursday, March 25, and Friday, March 26, for decoration night and dress rehearsal.


Participants compete the night of the pageant in the categories of sponsor speech, formal wear, business attire, and questions and answers. Each contestant will also be judged during an interview with the judges prior to the night of the pageant. The girls prepare for the pageant by attending workshops on personal development, community knowledge and communication. Participants will be expected to attend many community functions such as the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce Mixers on Tuesday nights, as well as perform community service.

Participants will also be responsible for securing their own Chamber Business Sponsor. Miss Crystal Lake receives a cash award of $1000 in the form of a scholarship to be used to further her education. She also competes in the Miss McHenry County Pageant, and if she wins, advances to the Miss Illinois County Pageant. Miss Crystal Lake is also required to attend many community functions such as Chamber Mixers, Clean Up Day, Crystal Lake Half Marathon, America's Cardboard Cup Regatta, and the Concerts in the Park, just to name a few.

* The regular meeting night is Wednesday, but may vary certain weeks. Contestants will receive a full schedule at the Mandatory Parent and Contestant Meeting on Tuesday, January 19, at the Administrative Building.
*Tuesday, January 19, Mandatory Parent and Contestant Meeting will be held at the Administrative Building from 7-8:30 pm. All contestants will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian in order to be eligible for participation in the Pageant. Any contestant that does not attend the first meeting with a parent will not be eligible to continue with the pageant.
*The contestants are required to be at every scheduled Wednesday meeting. If more than one approved absence occurs, the contestant will not be able to compete in the pageant, no exceptions!
