Veteran Acres & Lippold Park

General Guidelines for park usage-5K races


Utilize the checklist and review the guidelines and fees below to secure park usage from the Crystal Lake Park District for a 5K Race at Veteran Acres (431 N. Walkup Road, Crystal Lake) or Lippold Park (851 W. Route 176, Crystal Lake):

  • Submit letter to Manager of Recreation Facilities for approval prior to event; Board of Commissioners will approve event at board meeting. Please note: Crystal Lake Park District Board of Commissioner Meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month.
  • Proof of Liability Insurance is required. If organization does not carry liability insurance, one day event insurance may be purchased from Market Access.
  • Maintenance deposit is due 30 days prior to the event.
  • ANY outside company coming into the park to support the event MUST supply a certificate of insurance with the Crystal Lake Park District named as additional insured (i.e. food vendors, bouncy house, tent rentals, tables/chair rentals, etc.)
  • Park District staff are responsible for the following:
  1. A Crystal Lake Park District staff will be assigned as day(s) of event contact person
  2. A Crystal Lake Park District staff will open bathrooms
  3. A Crystal Lake Park District staff will inspect course prior to the race start
  • All other event management responsibilities fall to the renter (i.e. race set-up with tables, tents, banners, mile markers, take-down, etc.)
  • The Crystal Lake Park District reserves the right to enforce safety measures.

VETERAN ACRES OR LIPPOLD PARK COMPLETE PARK USAGE FEES for 5K RACES/EVENTs

  • Event rate will be based on total of daily shelter rates (Jaycee Shelter, Sterne's Woods Shelter, Rotary Shelter etc), open area/picnic table rates, Crystal Lake Park District Police rate and hourly building rate (Rotary Building, Oakwoods Lodge, etc.)
  • Maintenance deposit is due 30 days prior to event.

Veteran Acres Partial park Usage FEES for 5K RaceS/EVENTS

4 hour minimum rental (includes set-up and take-down): $440
Each additional hour beyond 4 hours: $50/hour
Rental area includes: Jaycee Shelter and applicable picnic areas
