Is summer softball happening? (updated 5/8/20)

Due to the Governor Pritzker's "Restore Illinois" announcement; spring and summer softball leagues have been cancelled. We hope to have a summer/fall softball league schedule starting in August; due to the phasing recommendations laid out by the state. We will continue to update the webpage as we have more information moving forward.

What about Independence Day Festivities?

The annual Fireworks Display is produced by the City of Crystal Lake and held at Crystal Lake Main Beach. Staff of both agencies are working together to evaluate CDC guidelines as they pertain to a special event of this magnitude. As of June 3, the fireworks display has been tentatively postponed until the fall.

When does the golf center open? (updated 6/1/20)

The Lippold Park Family Golf Center driving range, practice area and miniature golf will open June 15 following the guidelines provided by the DCEO. While we planned on opening sooner than June 15, the conditions of the grounds is forcing a delay. Due to the record rain fall during the month of May, the turf areas at the Golf Center are too wet for mowing equipment. As a result, the grass is long and needs to be cut and cleaned up prior to the facility opening. Due to the high volume of peat in the ground in that area, this area takes longer than normal to dry out.

Will the beaches open?

Main and West Beach remain closed pending direction from the IDPH. If beaches are able to open, consideration to open West Beach as well as Main Beach will be given provided we are able to properly and safely staff the beach.

Why might West Beach not open?

Due to the myriad of safety and operation measures that have to be met in order to comply with CDC and IPDH guidelines, along with an extremely shortened beach season and staffing concerns, it is not fiscally responsible or safe to attempt operations of both Main and West Beaches.
