A Christmas Carol, probably the most popular piece of fiction that Charles Dickens ever wrote, was published in 1843. Charles Dickens, through the voice of Ebenezer Scrooge, reminds us that a little kindness towards our fellow neighbor can go a long way.

Our House Master will delve into the characters and meaning behind A Christmas Carol while tasting traditional Victorian Christmas teas, finger foods and scrumptious desserts.

The Colonel Palmer House was built c.1858 by settlers Gustavus and Henrietta Palmer. Located on its original site, the home was entered in the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. Currently the home is maintained by the Crystal Lake Park District and is home to the Crystal Lake Historical Society.
