The Crystal Lake Park District is showcased in the most recent issue (page 26) of 'Parks and Recreation' the official publication of the National Recreation and Park Association under the topic of conservation for the efforts and progress being made at Sterne’s Woods and Fen and Veteran Acres.
A special thank you to John Fiorina, Interpretive Services Facility Manager and Preston Skultety, Manager of Natural Resources for their leadership in the remarkable progress made at these locations. Many thanks to the local groups who have volunteered with us at Sterne's: MUDD Ultrarunning Dudes & Dudettes, the Silver and Sleepy Hollow Creeks Watershed Coalition The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County , The Break , the Cary-Grove National Honor Society, Jacobs High School Interact, Harvard High School, Crystal Lake South Elementary, Algonquin Library Teens, Girl Scout Troop 888, Cub Scout Pack 156, Boy Scout Troops 158 and 368, and area geocachers.
