Register for Crystal Lake Park District Martial Arts classes like Shotokan Karate and Hapkido and experience increased confidence, flexibility, self defense skills and get a full body workout. Classes available for ages 4 and up. Shotokan Karate

Ages 7 & up

Tu or Th, 6/15-8/26, 6-6:55 pm, 7-7:55 pm and 8-9:15 pm

Beginner/Continuer, $127/$165

Intermediate (Yellow-Green Belts, Orange-Blue Belts), $127/$165

Illinois Shotokan Karate Club is Chicagoland's premier karate school taught under the instruction of John DiPasquale, a four-time National Champion, US National Coach and President of the US National Karate Federation. ISKC's youth and adult karate classes will put participants in touch with their bodies and offers a good mix of strength training, cardiovascular and flexibility exercises. Participants increase their coordination, agility and poise, as well as learn lasting personal safety skills. Beginner students will not be permitted to register into the current session after the second class has met.

 

Shotokan Pre-Karate

Ages 4-7

In our Pre-Karate classes, young children develop flexibility, strength and coordination in fun, yet disciplined activities. This program is specifically designed for growing minds and bodies to enhance memory and agility.

 

Hapkido

Ages 6 & up

Mon & Wed, 7/7-8/16, 7-9 pm

Location: Spoerl Park Building

Hapkido is the Korean Art of self-defense. What distinguishes Hapkido from other traditional martial art styles is that Hapkido is both an Art of Self-Defense and an Art of Discipline. Hapkido primarily emphasizes the subduing of an opponent with minimal strength. Traditional martial art techniques; kicks, punches, forms and blocks are taught including Stranger Danger for children and Safety Protocol for use of self-defense for adults.

** Note: Youth Beginners will meet from approximately 7-8 pm.
