The Crystal Lake Park District organizes a variety of special events for everyone! We bring communities together with events that make lasting memories! Ages 2-4
Join Daisy from the Nature Center and learn a little about manners during a short story time, then enjoy child-friendly teas and finger sandwiches at our very own outdoor tea party! (No worries, the dishes will be plastic.) Finally we'll get messy by painting with tea bags, and you can take your tot's watercolor masterpiece home.

Formally the Kite Fest, we have now added fun BIG TRUCKS! Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a day of kite flying and truck climbing! Chicago Kite, a professional kite company, will be on hand to fly enormous kites that speckle our skies! We have free paper kites to make yourself or you may purchase one from the Chicago Kite Company. NEW THIS YEAR: Contests for highest kite, most colorful kite etc....Kona Ice will be on site if you wish to purchase snow cones!

St. Lucia Holiday Tea

The St. Lucia celebration represents one of the foremost cultural traditions in Sweden. Lucia is an ancient mythical figure who is a bearer of light in the dark Swedish winters. The historic Colonel Palmer House with Victorian parlors is the perfect setting to celebrate this festive occasion. Tables of four can accommodate you and three of your guests. Each participant must be registered separately.

Parking available at Veteran Acres (431 N. Walkup Avenue); Nature Center (330 N. Main Street) and Oakwoods Lodge (2nd Street and Route 176)

A 49-year tradition in Crystal Lake, the Chili Open features a traditional 9-hole golf tournament held on our frozen Crystal Lake! This February tournament is steeped in generations of memories.

We are keeping the Crystal Lake Anglers tradition alive! Be the fishing tale of the town when we award our prize winners for overall biggest catch as well as musky/pike, bass, and walleye catches! Advance registration is required but $10 fee will be taken at the gate. Food will be available for purchase. Participants must be 16 years of age and have a valid IL fishing license.

Advance registration requested by February 6, free raffle tickets for those pre-registered

THE RACKET CLUB - 9101 S. ROUTE 31, LITH

The Racket Club introduced its first Fort Building battle in March 2017 which turned out to be a great success! Teams made up of family and friends are given three sheets of cardboard (96 w x 48 h) and one roll of duct tape to design and build a fort of their choice. Additional materials are allowed to finish the masterpiece. This battle combines quality time, team work and creativity to ultimate heights. Gift baskets were awarded to the MOST LIKELY TO SURVIVE AND EARTHQUAKE, BEST THEME and FAN FAVORITE. A complimentary ice cream bar from Baskin Robbins Crystal Lake finishes off a fun-tastic March evening!

Did you know Crystal Lake has a large Swedish population? Explore our Swedish roots at this fun and educational festival of folklore! Activities include maypole decorating and raising, crown crafts, Swedish traditions, Scandinavian dance group, Swedish treats, CL Brewing and more!
Check out a special presentation on the Swedenbergers of Crystal Lake from Kurt Pearson, member of the Crystal Lake Historical Society. Kurt will cover the immigration story, historic maps and genealogy.

FREE ON TUESDAYS @ 7 PM

Main Beach - 300 LakeShore Drive

Each year, the Crystal Lake Park District hosts a regional band to perform at Main Beach. Pack a dinner, pull out a blanket and enjoy a great night of free entertainment lakeside. Concerts are held on Tuesdays at 7 PM beginning June-August. Food and beverage (beer and wine) and small charcoal grills are allowed (no glass please.)

In the event of inclement weather, decision to reschedule the concert will be made by 4 pm. Check status by calling 815.410.4475 ext 6.

PARKING

Please park in the following areas for concert evenings: Main Beach parking lot, grass triangle across the street from the Lakeside Arts in the Park (Dole Mansion) and South Elementary. Please do not park at the boat gate, Dole Mansion or Seminary Park.
