The Crystal Lake Park District organizes a variety of special events for everyone! We bring communities together with events that make lasting memories! For specific information on pricing and program dates, please view the links provided below. All one day trips and special events are also posted on our calendar of events.

HAUNTED HOME DECORATING CONTEST


NEW ONLINE VOTING AND NO REGISTRATION FEE!

Enter our popular Haunted Home decorating contest! You put all of the work into your look, so show it off!

Registration Deadline: Oct 16 @ 12pm; Participants will receive a photo/video upload link. Uploads must be received by Oct 26.

Public voting takes place Oct 27-29; Winner announced Oct 30 and receives a $50 CLPD gift card! Max 20 houses - limited to houses in Crystal Lake or Lakewood

Please note: if there is any indications of compromise of the online voting system, the CLPD reserves the right to suspend the public voting and staff will select the winner.

SUNDAY, OCT 25 10AM-12 PM

LIPPOLD PARK WEST ENTRANCE, 1251 W. Route 176

Cars filled with costumed kiddos are welcome to drive thru our Truck or Treat "parade" to receive their treats this year. Construction trucks and big earth movers will be lined up ready to greet your kids - candy distributors will be masked and gloved for your protection.

Event is free but you must register in advance for a 15 minute time period to optimize consistent spacing throughout the event.


PUZZLEPALOOZA! JIGSAW PUZZLE TOURNAMENT

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7 10 AM - 12 PM

THE RACKET CLUB - 9101 S. ROUTE 31, ALGONQUIN 847-658-5688

Four person teams race against each other to complete the same 500 piece puzzle. Bring snacks and enjoy an afternoon with family or friends. Prizes for winners. Tables will be spaced 20 feet apart for maximum social distancing. Masks are not required at your table but will be throughout the Racket Club building.

Enjoy a beautiful night under the stars as we light a trail through our magnificent Veteran Acres.

WALK WILL START AT THE VA PLAYGROUND SHELTER

Parking available at Veteran Acres (431 N. Walkup Avenue); Nature Center (330 N. Main Street) and Oakwoods Lodge (2nd Street and Route 176)

Suggested donation (pay at the event) $1 per person/max $5 per family
Donations to be used for Nature Center outdoor education programs

A 49-year tradition in Crystal Lake, the Chili Open features a traditional 9-hole golf tournament held on our frozen Crystal Lake! This February tournament is steeped in generations of memories.

WEST BEACH - 2330 LAKE AVENUE

We are keeping the Crystal Lake Anglers tradition alive! Be the fishing tale of the town when we award our prize winners for overall biggest catch as well as musky/pike, bass, and walleye catches! Advance registration is required but $10 fee will be taken at the gate (cash, check or credit card accepted.) Food and beverage will be available for purchase. Participants must be 16 years of age and have a valid IL fishing license.

Advance registration requested by February 6, free raffle ticket for those pre-registered. Raffle prizes include ice shanty, auger, propane heater and more!

Forts on the Courts

SATURDAY, MARCH 2021, 6:30-8:30 PM

THE RACKET CLUB - 9101 S. ROUTE 31, LITH

The Racket Club introduced its first Fort Building battle in March 2017 which turned out to be a great success! Teams made up of family and friends are given three sheets of cardboard (96 w x 48 h) and one roll of duct tape to design and build a fort of their choice. Additional materials are allowed to finish the masterpiece. This battle combines quality time, team work and creativity to ultimate heights. Prizes will be awarded to the three favorite forts. A complimentary ice cream bar from Baskin Robbins Crystal Lake finishes off a fort-astic March evening!

Hosted by the City of Crystal Lake Sustainability Committee, Bike with your Neighbor showcases three fun bike routes for all ages! Stop back at Main Beach after the ride for prize drawings and a Bike Safety Rodeo hosted by the Crystal Lake Park District Police.

Concerts in the Park Series

FREE ON TUESDAYS @ 7 PM

Main Beach - 300 LakeShore Drive

Each year, the Crystal Lake Park District hosts a regional band to perform at Main Beach. Pack a dinner, pull out a blanket and enjoy a great night of free entertainment lakeside. Concerts are held on Tuesdays at 7 PM beginning June-August. Food and beverage (beer and wine) and small charcoal grills are allowed (no glass please.) In the event of inclement weather, decision to reschedule the concert will be made by 4 pm. Check status by calling 815.410.4475 ext 6.

PARKING

Please park in the following areas for concert evenings: Main Beach parking lot, grass triangle across the street from the Lakeside Arts in the Park (Dole Mansion) and South Elementary. Please do not park at the boat gate, Dole Mansion or Seminary Park.

The Monarch Coalition is bringing to the beach an engaging Monarch Fair loaded with activities, games and monarch education. Buy a pollinator plant and help us repopulate the monarchs! Wander to the band shell where we will be showcasing local bands for your entertainment.
