The Crystal Lake Park District organizes a variety of special events for everyone! We bring communities together with events that make lasting memories! For specific information on pricing and program dates, please view the links provided below. All one day trips and special events are also posted on our calendar of events.

FREE ON TUESDAYS @ 7 PM

Main Beach - 300 LakeShore Drive

Each year the Crystal Lake Park District hosts a regional band to perform at Main Beach. Pack a dinner, pull out a blanket and enjoy a great night of free entertainment lakeside. Concerts are held on Tuesdays at 7 PM beginning June-August. Food and beverage (beer and wine) and small charcoal grills are allowed (no glass please.) In the event of inclement weather, decision to reschedule the concert will be made by 4 pm. Check status by calling 815.410.4475 ext 6.

Join us and the T-Mobile truck crew at 6:30 pm for contests, trivia and give-aways as we celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Crystal Lake Park District!

Please park in the following areas for concert evenings: Main Beach parking lot, grass triangle across the street from the Lakeside Arts in the Park (Dole Mansion) and South Elementary. Please do not park at the boat gate, Dole Mansion or Seminary Park.

Hosted by the City of Crystal Lake Sustainability Committee, Bike with your Neighbor showcases three fun bike routes for all ages! Stop back at Main Beach after the ride for prize drawings and a Bike Safety Rodeo hosted by the Crystal Lake Park District Police.

July is National Parks & Recreation month. Turn off the TVs and phones and spend time with family outside and in nature! Enjoy an activity guide provided by the Illinois Parks & Rec Association.

Wait, what?!? An adult evening dedicated to Jason and a campy 80's slasher movie...ON CRYSTAL LAKE? Get your freak on by attending our Friday the 13th Fest loaded with bloody fun!

Hang out with your friends in our beautiful park, watch the sunset and play some games while listening to local group, Acoustical Explosion.
GAMES: Human Foosball, Archery, Hatchet throwing, Board Games, life size games
BEER GARDEN: Beer Garden open featuring a special craft Friday the 13th beer brewed by Crystal Lake Brewing! Seltzers also available!
FOOD TRUCKS: Trucks TBD. Julie Ann's Custard: Awesome custard treats and one with a custom, spine chilling Friday the 13th flavor!

With the moonlight dancing off of Crystal Lake, cuddle up with your friends as you are transported back to 1980 and the movie that started the hockey mask craze.
MOVIE: Friday the 13th on a large screen with experiential fun
Rain or shine. Beach closed all day. No outside food or beverage allowed in park. No boats allowed.

Groups must socially distance and masks must be worn in common areas of the park.

The Monarch Coalition is bringing to the beach an engaging Monarch Fair loaded with activities, games and monarch education. Buy a pollinator plant and help us repopulate the monarchs! Wander to the band shell where we will be showcasing local bands for your entertainment.

Cars filled with costumed kiddos are welcome to drive thru our Truck or Treat "parade" to receive their treats this year. Construction trucks and big earth movers will be lined up ready to greet your kids - candy distributors will be masked and gloved for your protection.

Event is free but you must register in advance for a 15 minute time period to optimize consistent spacing throughout the event.

PUZZLEPALOOZA! JIGSAW PUZZLE TOURNAMENT

SAT NOV 2021 10 AM-12 PM

THE RACKET CLUB - 9101 S. ROUTE 31, ALGONQUIN 847-658-5688

Four person teams race against each other to complete the same 500 piece puzzle. Bring snacks and enjoy an afternoon with family or friends. Prizes for winners. Tables will be spaced 20 feet apart for maximum social distancing. Masks are not required at your table but will be throughout the Racket Club building.

2020 HIKE HAS CONCLUDED. CHECK BACK IN 2021!

Enjoy a beautiful night under the stars as we light a trail through our magnificent Veteran Acres. Our illuminated trails (approx. 1.3 mi) is a mixture of paved, gravel and grassy surfaces.

PARK DETAILS:

  • The Holiday Night Hike is now being offered on six separate December evenings (Dec 17, 18 & 19) from 4:30-7:30 pm.
  • Lit trails were expanded to accommodate more social distancing. Note: some trails may be closed due to weather-related conditions.
  • Non-illuminated trails and other parts of the park will close at dusk.
  • Face coverings and social distancing required.

EVENT CHANGES:

  • Warming stations (campfires) will not be lit along trails.
  • Oakwoods Lodge, Rotary and Nature Center buildings will be closed.
  • Restrooms will be open at VA picnic shelter and Nature Center.
  • Hot cocoa, s'mores station and caroling are cancelled.

REGISTRATION INFO:

  • Please sign up for the evening your group plans to attend and include number of people in your group.
  • Limit of 300 persons per night (registration required to eliminate crowds.)
  • Parking and start of route can begin from either the Veteran Acres parking lot (431 N. Walkup Ave) or the Nature Center (330 N. Main Street).
  • Arrivals may be anytime between 4:30-7:30 pm. NOTE: the entire trail will take approximately 45 minutes to hike.

  • In case of inclement weather, please call 815.410.4475 or go to rainoutline.com for up-to-date cancellations.
  • Low mobility trail is located around the Veteran Acres pond. Handicap parking is located at Oakwoods Lodge, 46 E. Terra Cotta Avenue.

Come join the coolest volleyball event ever! Only for adults 21 and older, this event includes organized volleyball games in the snow with many breaks for hot chili and cold adult beverages (included-limited!)

Bring your friends to compete in the 4-person recreation division or if you are a competitive athlete, join the 2-person tournaments. All teams are guaranteed at least 4 games to 21 and make the playoffs too! Awards are for championship teams and a national bid will be given to the top team in each division. Registration Deadline: Feb 7. Face coverings not required while playing.

Our 50th Anniversary! The Chili Open features a traditional 9-hole golf tournament held on our frozen Crystal Lake! This February tournament is steeped in generations of memories. Foursomes receive some swag and a bowl of chili "to go."

Bundle up and tee up for our first-ever Family Mini-Golf Event! Lippold Family Golf Center's miniature golf courses will be open for one day only this winter season. While playing our 18 hole course, families will complete fun challenges and win prizes! We'll be providing hot cocoa! Face coverings recommended.
