Swim Lessons Sess 2 begin July 10

Give your child the gift that lasts a lifetime-swim lessons with the Crystal Lake Park District Swim School. Swim lessons are offered Monday-Friday with morning and evening classes all summer long at Main Beach, 300 Lakeshore Drive, Crystal Lake. Certified instructors offer group and private lessons for ages 18 months to adult. Seven (7) levels of instruction allow your swimmer to progress at their own rate. July 10-July 20, Monday-Thursday, choice of 10-10:40 am, 10:45-11:25 am or 11:30 am-12:10 pm

Group Swim Class Descriptions
Guppies (18 months -3 years with parent): Infants and toddlers learn to feel comfortable in the water and have fun through games and drills. One parent must be in the water with the swimmer for the entire lesson.

Level 1-Tadpoles (ages 3 and up): Level 1 will help swimmers feel comfortable in the water and enjoy the water safely. Swimmers will fully submerge their faces, blow bubbles, float on front and back with support, kick on front and back with support, alternating arm strokes and safety skills.
Level 2-Minnows (ages 4 and up): Level 2 will provide swimmers success with fundamental skills. Swimmers will learn to hold their breath and retrieve objects underwater, float on front and back without support, leveling off and turning over, rhythmic breathing, flutter kick, finning, back and front crawl
Level 3-Goldfish (ages 4 and up): Level 3 will build on skills learned in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice. Swimmers will become more comfortable in water slightly deeper than their height, front and back glides, coordinated stroke on front with breathing, coordinated stroke on back, elementary backstroke kick, changing directions, treading water and cold-water safety skills.
Level 4-Starfish (ages 4 and up): Level 4 develops confidence in the strokes learned and is intended to increase the swimmer's endurance by swimming these strokes for longer distances than in Level 3. In Level 4, swimmers will refine elementary backstroke, front and back crawl, sculling and be introduced to the breaststroke and sidestroke. Swimmers will also tread water for an extended period of time.
Level 5-Stingrays (ages 4 and up): Level 5 is coordinating and refining key strokes. Students will swim familiar strokes for greater distance than in previous levels, develop the coordinated breaststroke and sidestroke and are introduced to the butterfly stroke and surface diving.
Level 6-Dolphins (ages 4 and up): Level 6 students will polish all strokes so they can swim with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Swimmers will develop considerable endurance by the end of class. Surface dives will venture to deeper water.
Level 7-Sharks (ages 4 and up): Level 7 is to perfect all strokes and develop good fitness habits. This level includes many different skills and options, such as swimming for recreation, conditioning and competitively.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are 30 minutes in length and contain 8 classes (ages 3 & up.) Complete the Private Swim Lesson Request Form at https://www.crystallakeparks.org/aquatics.
