Fishing Line Recycling Receptacles a Success
Fri September 15, 2023
Thanks to the responsible anglers who have been placing their waste monfilament fishing line in the receptacles that are located around some of the Crystal Lake Park District fishing ponds. A 5 gallon bucket’s worth of monofilament line has been recently collected! This initiative helps keep waste line out of the environment and out of landfills where wildlife can get entangled in it.
Only monfilament fishing line, free of any tackle (i.e. hooks and sinkers), is intended to be placed in these receptacles. Braded fishing line can not be recycled through this program. Other trash such as beverage cans and plastic wrappers should be placed in the appropriate waste/recycling cans.
Locations: Main Beach, West beach, Veteran Acres, and Shamrock Hills.
